Immigration
The Concord party believes that immigration serves to strengthen the United States and validates the social mobility and economic success our country has always promised. We believe that means must be provided for hard-working and honest immigrants to share in the American dream. The vast number of illegal immigrants that are attempting to enter or are currently in the United States demonstrates the failure of current immigration policy.
We support the reform of the immigration policy to accomplish two broad objectives:
1. Reform legal immigration and assimilation:
- allow a large number of immigrants, including the poor, to legally enter this country each year;
- encourage new immigrants to receive training in our primary shared language, and to familiarize themselves with American systems and procedures
2. Resolve issues with illegal immigration:
- prevent the abuse of American social services such as welfare by those who pay no taxes;
- strengthen our borders to stop the entrance of criminals, terrorists and other undesirables
The Concord party therefore supports initiatives which ease the entry of immigrants through legal means, aid new immigrants in learning about American institutions, culture and law and abiding thereby, promote the ability to track and expel immigrants who do not comply with US law, limiting government benefits to those who respect our law and not unfairly rewarding those who are here illegally.
